Noosa2K’Gari 4WD Hire Vehicles are a great way to explore Moreton Island, which is a large sand island on the eastern side of Moreton Bay.
It is located 58 km northeast of Brisbane and is accessible via ferry (MiCAT).
The island is 95% National Park and a popular destination for 4WDs, camping, recreational angling and whale watching.
Established in 1966, 98% of the island is contained within the Moreton Island National Park, which has a World Conservation Union (IUCN) category of II.
The park is managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.
4WD access is by ferry and there are no sealed roads on the island.
Camping is permitted, however permits must be obtained on the mainland prior to departure and displayed whilst on the island.
There are plenty of recreational activities including sand tobogganing, snorkeling & diving, bird watching, feeding dolphins, whale watching from land, fishing and parasailing.
Access to the island is via vehicle ferry service from the Moreton Island Adventures MICAT at Port of Brisbane in Lytton, and the Tangalooma Flyer launched from Pinkenba.
